The management of the VS-FILM Very Short Film Festival has announced the honoring of veteran artist Ahmed Badir during the opening ceremony of the festival’s third edition, scheduled to take place on October 28 in Suez Governorate. This tribute comes in recognition of his extensive artistic career spanning over five decades, during which he enriched cinema, theater, television, and radio with more than 300 artistic works.

The honor bestowed upon Ahmed Badir recognizes a rich artistic journey during which he successfully established his presence across various formats and characters, transitioning between comedy, tragedy, melodrama, and drama. This made him one of the artists whose works have deeply resonated with the memory and sentiment of Egyptian and Arab audiences across successive generations.

Artist Ahmed Badir is considered one of the most prominent stars of Egyptian art who successfully combined talent, diversity, and longevity. Having begun his artistic career in the 1970s, he has succeeded over more than 55 years in portraying diverse characters that left a clear impact on cinema, theater, television drama, and radio.

He noted that he has undertaken more than one experience in the field of short films and is particularly proud of his participation in the film “Appointment with Life” (Mo3ad Hayah), through which he won the Best Actor award from the Euro-African Film Festival in Tizni, Morocco, about three years ago.

The festival program is scheduled to include an open discussion with artist Ahmed Badir, where he will meet with youth and filmmakers participating in this edition. He will talk about his artistic experience, his long journey in cinema, theater, and drama, and the expertise he has gained over five decades of artistic work, allowing new generations to benefit from the experience of one of Egypt’s prominent artistic stars.

In turn, Dr. Osama Abou Nar, Chairman of the Festival, emphasized that the festival management is keen on honoring artistic figures who have contributed to enriching the Egyptian and Arab artistic movement, leaving behind works and characters that remain present in the audience’s conscience.

In a related context, Ziad Basmier, the festival’s Executive Director, stated that the third edition’s honoring program includes several major artistic names that have contributed to shaping the Arab conscience from the ocean to the gulf.
