VS-FILM Short Film Festival Honors Actress Wafaa Amer

The VS-FILM Very Short Film Festival is pleased to announce that it will honor the acclaimed actress Wafaa Amer during the opening ceremony of its third edition, scheduled for October 28 at Suez University.

The festival’s tribute to Wafaa Amer comes in recognition of a rich artistic career filled with diverse roles and characters across nearly 50 films, over 70 television series, 20 theatrical productions, and several radio works. Her notable film credits include Kaff Al-Qamar, Heena Maysara, Rehla Mashtabaha (Suspicious Journey), Al-Tahweela, Kashf Al-Mastoor, Al-Layla Al-Kabeera, and Karma, among others.

Wafaa Amer expressed her deep appreciation for the festival and for being honored alongside prominent Arab artistic figures. She explained that this honor holds a special place in her heart as it comes from a festival dedicated specifically to very short films, highlighting her pride in the cinematic works she has presented and her collaborations with directors representing various artistic schools.

For his part, Dr. Osama Abu Nar, President of the Festival, stated that honoring the great actress Wafaa Amer is an expression of appreciation for a star with a rich cinematic journey packed with distinguished works. He explained that the festival is always keen to honor artists with impactful experiences, noting that a special tribute seminar will be organized for Wafaa Amer, during which she will discuss her cinematic roles and key milestones in her career.

In turn, Ziyad Basmeer, Executive Director of the Festival, said that the festival’s tribute program is filled with prominent Arab figures who have delivered outstanding works to the big screen. He added that Wafaa Amer has starred in both feature and short films, portraying deeply human roles for which she won multiple awards from the Egyptian National Film Festival, the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, and the Cairo International Film Festival.
