Ministry of Culture Announces Dates for the 3rd Edition of VS-FILM Festival for Very Short Films

The Ministry of Culture has announced that the third edition of the VS-FILM Festival for Very Short Films will take place from October 28 to November 1, 2026, in Suez Governorate.

Dr. Osama Abu Nar, President of the festival, stated that preparations began early to deliver a distinguished edition. This comes after the festival made significant strides following its second edition last year, which solidified its presence among international festivals specialized in very short films.

He confirmed that the call for entries for the festival’s two competitions—5-minute and 10-minute films—will open within days. He also noted that the festival will introduce new competitions dedicated to different styles of short filmmaking, such as Mobile Cinema and Video Art, which are currently seeing massive engagement on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, Ziad Bassemir, the festival’s Executive Director, mentioned that the third edition will feature the participation of prominent Arab and international artistic figures. Many have already welcomed the invitation to attend, serve on juries, conduct masterclasses, or be honored, reflecting the positive impact the festival has achieved in its previous two editions.

Bassemir emphasized that this edition will host major cinematic events, including film screenings, seminars, and workshops on the industry of “very short films,” which will be held at Suez University, Galala University, and Ain Sokhna.
